What is Variable (or Time-of-Use) Pricing?
Variable pricing simply means that the rate a utility company is charging for electricity use changes according to the time of day.
Convenience - your energy data at your fingertips

Manage your home energy from your computer or smart phone

Nucleus energy manager comes with a software program for your personal computer. Using wireless technology, Nucleus' GE Brillion system gathers estimated energy usage data from your home and enabled appliances, then displays the information to a computer interface. GE also offers a specialized iPhone app (available from iTunes) designed to communicate with Nucleus. From your computer or smart phone, you will be able to monitor your electricity usage-from your whole home, down to the specific appliance. Connect seamlessly to your programmable thermostat to remotely adjust your home climate. This comprehensive solution will keep you totally connected to your home's power use.

Track energy savings from your computer

See real-time energy use

See energy use in near real time
Track your whole home energy consumption in near real time. This software widget gathers energy consumption data from your smart meter and updates kilowatt use every 15 seconds, plus the amount those kilowatts are costing you*. You can also track your month-to-date estimated consumption. The simple dial gives near-instant feedback as your home energy use changes, such as when you run the dishwasher or turn off the air conditioner.

When you can see how much electricity you are using throughout the day, you can do your own home energy audit-adjust your thermostat a few degrees, turn off unnecessary lights, or unplug energy vampires like cell phone chargers that aren't in use-and get fast feedback that your choices are working.

Get current electricity rates

Get current electricity rates
Monitor your energy rates* for any time of day. Nucleus energy manager captures variable rates from your smart meter**, or you can input your own rates. The rates have corresponding colors to help visually differentiate high-peak (red) and off-peak (green) usage times.

When you know how much you're paying, you're able to make wiser energy choices, such as waiting to run your dishwasher or clothes dryer when rates are lower.

Track your consumption over time

Track your consumption over time
With the History screen, you can view your estimated energy use and cost* trends by day, month and year. Nucleus energy manager stores up to three-years' worth of energy consumption information. These trends can reveal costly habits and guide smarter energy choices.

Simple thermostat programming

Simple thermostat programming
Programming your thermostat can be a daunting task. But when paired with a GE smart thermostat, the simple, intuitive, single-screen Nucleus software interface can be used to program each day of the week with up to four different settings-directly from your PC.

Upgradable software
These simple, lifestyle-enhancing applications are just the tip of the iceberg. Nucleus software upgrades ensure that your Nucleus and its computer application are up-to-date, and that you receive new features when they are available.
