GE Smart Grid Technologies Help One Island Achieve Greater Energy Independence

Vineyard Energy Project has selected GE Profile™ Series appliances enabled with Brillion™ technology and Nucleus™ energy manager with Brillion™ technology to help consumers manage energy use, while helping Martha's Vineyard create a more self-sufficient grid.

Smart grid technologies will help VEP achieve their long-term goal of operating an independent power grid, fueled by local renewable energy.

Energy independence is about more than reducing oil consumption; it's about managing our existing resources more effectively. GE announced today that dozens of consumers on Martha's Vineyard will receive GE's Profile™ Series appliances enabled with Brillion™ technology and GE's Nucleus™ energy managers to help them more efficiently manage their energy use and costs, while helping Vineyard Energy Project (VEP) and the Vineyard Power Co-Op understand the role of smart grid technologies in operating a more independent power grid.  More >>
