Appliance Park's Dishwashers Get $7.4 Million Facelift

GE is investing in Appliance Park's future with a $7.4 million upgrade for its low to mid-line dishwashers. Upgrades in this high-volume product include improvements in appearance, performance, and making all products ENERGY STAR® compliant.

GE is investing in Appliance Park's "bread and butter" dishwasher products with a $7.4 million investment. The investment will be used to upgrade the C-platform dishwashers, the value to mass market units, which represent significant volume in Appliance Park Building 3.

"This product needed to be refreshed to help us stay competitive," says Rob Willy, Appliance Park Manufacturing Engineering Manager. "The investment and upgrades we are making will definitely keep us viable in this market segment."

Rob says that this new improved dishwasher is aimed toward the first-time home buyer and people who live in multi-unit housing arrangements. "Our goal is to enhance the customer experience with this improved product to a point that they will be more inclined to come back and be repeat buyers, perhaps even be willing to buy one of our high-end products."

Customer Feedback Key to Redesign
Customers and consumers have told GE through surveys that the upgrades were needed. As a result of those surveys and other data, product changes were focused in three areas:

  • Improving appearance to include an updated look and feel,
  • improving wash performance, with a much quieter running operation, and
  • making all products entirely ENERGY STAR® compliant.

The feedback on the test units has all been great. "All of Appliance Park will be impacted because the $7.4 million is an investment in the Park's future," says Rob.
