Demand High! GE Supports Communities With Donated Products

Families living at the Ronald McDonald House, while their seriously ill children are being treated in Louisville, can find comfort in a home-like environment using GE-donated laundry and kitchen appliances.

Audiences at Louisville's Actors Theatre productions are viewing a better product on stage, thanks to GE's contribution of lighting for Actor's new production studio.

GE has agreed to donate products to the new Gilda's Club, a non-profit organization that offers support to people and families living with cancer.

Community strategy
In Louisville alone last year, Consumer & Industrial donated more than $49,000 in appliances and lighting to worthy organizations. All product donations are part of GE's overall efforts demonstrate its commitment to the communities where employees live and work.

"It's just as important that we donate our products as it is that we donate our dollars and our employees donate their time and talent," says Megan Robison, Manager of Community Relations. "It all adds up to being a good corporate citizen.

Web site for nonprofits
For all the individual product donation requests GE cannot meet, the organizations are referred to GE's nonprofit Web site. "At this Web site they can obtain anywhere from 15 to 40 percent off the retail costs when they order what they need," says Megan. Impacting the community
GE's overall global community strategy ties together contributions, volunteers, board members and other resources, such as the GE Foundation funding and employee giving, to build even greater community impact. "Product donations are not the largest piece of our overall strategy," says Megan, "but they are important, and we will continue to direct our product donations to worthy organizations that meet our guidelines."
