Soon, GE Appliance Park's Building 3 won't just add the assembly of portable dishwashers; they'll add a new assembly line, too. It's all part of an estimated $3.5 million investment being made to bring new capabilities to the plant.

Portable dishwashers have long been a favorite of consumers who want a dishwasher, but don't have an appropriate cutout in their kitchen cabinets to accommodate one. This dishwasher allows them to attach a hose to their kitchen sink to run the unit, with wheels attached to the bottom allowing it to be rolled around the kitchen. When the time comes to redo the kitchen, or move into the right space, consumers can switch their portable dishwasher into a cabinet-mounted model.

Building 3 will be manufacturing this unique dishwasher configuration, including both short door and long door models for sale to the U.S. market.
