Through the GE Employee Community Fund (ECF), GE employees contribute more than $1 million each year to Metro United Way here in Louisville and its surrounding communities. In addition to donations to Metro United Way, the GE ECF Board of Directors will consider grant applications from other nonprofit agencies that benefit children, elderly and the needy.
- All applicants must be organizations whose primary audience resides within 125 miles of Louisville, Ky.
- All applicants must be a 501 (c ) (3) nonprofit organization - status will be verified through www.guidestar.org.
- Typically, no grants will be given to private foundations, for-profit organizations or individuals.
- Only one-time grants will be given; no multi-year grants and or multi-year payments.
- Generally, grants range between $2,500 and $5,000. Preference will be given to new or first-time program requests.
- GE ECF does not contribute to social, labor or political organizations, lobbying efforts or political action committees.
- Only non-denominational activities/programs are eligible for funding.
- Applications will be reviewed at the monthly ECF Board meeting, which is the third Wednesday of the month.
- Grants not funded will be held for possible funding later in the year.
- Only one application per organization should be submitted per calendar year.
Application Procedure
If your organization meets the guidelines above, we invite you to apply to the GE ECF online using the application.
- Once submitted, a confirmation page will appear and you should receive an email message from the ECF Board within seven days.
- Do not attempt to mail or fax the application.
Other Funding Sources
The GE Foundation’s Community Matching Gifts program helps increase the giving power of GE employees and retirees by matching donations to local community organizations offering social services for the disadvantaged, environmental organizations, museums with outreach programs, and hospitals and other medical institutions.
