How to Clean Stainless Steel

Stainless steel has some unique cleaning characteristics. In order to keep your appliance looking like new, GE recommends cleaning it with Cerama Bryte® stainless steel appliance cleaner on stainless steel exteriors or interiors. (Order part number PM10X311, 16 oz bottle, from GE Parts).

To use:
  1. Shake the bottle well.
  2. Place a small amount of Cerama Bryte® stainless steel appliance cleaner on a damp cloth or damp paper towel.
  3. Clean a small area (approximately 8" by 8"), rubbing with the grain of the stainless steel if applicable.
  4. Dry and buff with a clean, dry paper towel or soft cloth.
  5. Repeat if necessary.
You may also use:
Citrushine Stainless Steel Wipes, removes fingerprints, de-greases and shines without streaking. (Order part number WX10X10007, from GE Parts).

For heavy soils:
Use a paste of baking soda and water while rubbing with a soft cloth.

NOTE: For appliances previously cleaned with a mineral oil-based stainless cleaner: Before using the Cerama Bryte® stainless steel appliance cleaner, wash the surface with dish soap and water to remove oily residue. Then use a generous amount of Cerama Bryte® stainless steel appliance cleaner to clean the appliance. (Future cleanings require only the normal amount of Cerama Bryte®.)

Do not use steel wool, abrasives, ammonia, acids or commercial oven cleaners.
