Top Load Washer - Proper Loading

How a Top Load Washer is loaded can affect how well it can wash and spin your clothes. Below are some suggestions to consider when you are putting clothing, towels, sheets, etcetera, into the wash basket.

1. Sort clothes well. For example, cotton and synthetic fiber (such as polyester) clothing should not be washed together.

2. When adding items to the wash basket, it is better if they are dry. Wet items are likely to pack down in the wash basket and this can lead to overloading.

3. Drop the items loosely around the sides of the wash basket. In a load with various sized items (for example, large towels, hand towels and wash clothes), we recommend placing the larger items on the bottom, the smaller items in the middle and medium sized items at the top.

4. Do not overload the washer. To determine the proper amount of clothes the washer can handle, the clothes should fit below the clothes-retaining ring of the washer tub and not be stuffed too tightly. Make sure that the clothes have ample room to move, that they are not packed down and that they are not wrapped around the agitator (on models with an agitator).
