Washer - Resetting the Electronic Controls

If there is a pause or interruption of the wash cycle while the washer is in use, this can cause the electronic controls to lock up. The pause or interruption during the wash cycle may happen unexpectedly, such as a power outage, or may happen purposefully, such as an action by the user. A pause or interruption during the wash cycle may occur because of the following situations:

  • A power failure.
  • A new washer was left in test mode while being assembled at the factory.
  • The washer was stopped before the cycle was complete.
  • The stop/pause button was pressed to temporarily stop the cycle and was not reset. In this case, the washer will pump out and spin after 24 hours but the controls may stay stuck in the final spin portion of the cycle.

Washer Control Reset

To reset the electronic controls on your washer, shut off the circuit breaker or fuse to the washer or unplug the washer for 2 minutes.

  • For models that have a timer control knob, turn the knob around and back to any position other than final spin for the interrupted cycle. Then, restore power.
  • For models with an electronic control knob or electronic control panel, the wash cycle will need to be selected again and started after you restore power.
This should resolve the issue.
