INGREDIENTS
1 pound haricot verts or green beans, trimmed
4 ounces cremini mushrooms, sliced
1 ½ tablespoons olive oil
Kosher salt
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 cup whole milk, warmed
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
3 ounces cream cheese, crumbled
½ cup crispy fried onions
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat the oven or a toaster oven to Air Fry at 400 degrees F.
For the green beans, place the green beans in a large bowl. Add the mushrooms and olive oil, sprinkle with ¼ teaspoon salt and toss to coat. Spread the green bean mixture on the Air Fry Toaster oven’s Air Fry Basket. Air Fry the green beans until tender and the skins blister, 8 to 10 minutes depending on the thickness of the green beans.
Meanwhile make the cream cheese sauce. Add the butter to a small sauté pan over medium heat and cook until it starts to bubble and brown. Add the flour and stir to cook the flour, 1 to 3 minutes. Slowly whisk in the milk. Continue to cook until the mixture simmers and thickens, about 10 minutes. Add the garlic powder and pepper. Remove from the heat and add the cream cheese. Taste and season with salt.
When the green beans are tender, pour the cheese sauce on the bottom of a platter. Top with the roasted green beans and sprinkle with crispy fried onions. Serve immediately.
