ADA-Compliant Dishwashers

GE dishwasher models that meet ADA Regulations are equipped with controls positioned within arm's reach (between 15 and 48 inches above floor). These controls allow one-hand operation, with no more than five pounds of pressure. Inside, all racks are designed for front access.

ADA-Compliance Requirements

To be considered ADA-compliant, a GE dishwasher must meet the following requirements:

  • Maximum high forward reach for controls and operating mechanisms is 48"; maximum low forward reach is 15".
  • Controls and operating mechanisms must be operable with one hand and shall not require tight grasping, pinching, or twisting of the wrist. The force required to activate controls shall be no more than 5 lbf.
  • All rack space shall be accessible from the front of the machine for loading and unloading dishes.
