Why is GE recalling these washers?
GE initiated this voluntary recall because product safety is a top priority and we stand behind our products and are committed to our consumers. The washer’s basket seam can separate during the final spin cycle, which in some instances can breach the washer’s top panel posing a potential risk of injury.

Which washers are being recalled?
Approximately 62,000 GE Profile™ frontload washers are included in the recall. The frontload washers were manufactured between April 2008 and October 2010. The washers were sold in white, red and gold colors.
Only the following models and serials are included in the recall:
Brand Model Number begins with: AND Serial Number begins with: GE Profile™ WPDH8800, WPDH8900, WPDH8910 All serial numbers with these models are included. -
How can I locate the model and serial number?
The model and serial numbers are located on the bottom right side panel and on the top door frame of the washer, after opening the door.

How do I obtain a free repair?
Consumers should call the Recall Hotline toll-free at 1-888-641-9739 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time Monday through Friday to arrange for a free service call. Before you call, write down the model and serial number of your washer.

Can I use my washer prior to the repair?
Consumers should contact GE for a free in-home repair at www.geappliances.com/ge/recall/. Consumers wishing to use the washer while awaiting a repair must first adjust the spin speed setting to “Medium” or “Low” before each use of the washer. Adjusting the spin speed as directed is necessary to use the washer safely while awaiting the repair.

My washer is included in this recall. Do I need a new washer?
No. GE is offering a free in-home repair to all customers affected by this recall. To schedule a free in-home repair, contact GE at www.geappliances.com/ge/recall/ 24 hours a day, 7 days a week or call the Recall Hotline toll-free at 1-888-641-9739.

I live in Canada and have one of the recalled washers. What should I do?
If you live in Canada, contact the Mabe Canada Recall Hotline at 888-572-6152 from 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time Monday through Friday for a free repair or send an email to servicerequest@mabe.ca. Before calling, consumers should write down the model and serial number of their washer.
