Refrigerator - Area Between Doors Warm or Hot
It is completely normal for the area around and between the doors on a Refrigerator case to feel warm or even a little hot. The sealed system is circulating warm liquid around the front edge of the freezer and fresh food compartment to help prevent condensation on the outside of the Refrigerator. This is especially beneficial during hot, humid days. This area will always be warmer and sometimes even hot when the compressor has to run longer than usual.Heat
The warmth is normal and the area can certainly feel hot when the Fridge has to run a lot like on hot, humid Summer days. However, older models may have exposed condenser coils on the back or underneath the Fridge. These coils can collect dust and dirt. Cleaning these coils as well as improving air flow around the Refrigerator can reduce the heat created in this area.Moisture
Some older Top Freezer and Bottom Freezer Refrigerator models have a switch in the Refrigerator compartment marked Energy Saver or Power Saver. This switch controls a mullion heater behind the strip between the doors.
