How to Deep Clean and Sanitize Your Refrigerator

Lately, we've all become way more aware of the need to keep our homes clean and sanitized. Before you bring your freshly disinfected groceries to be put away in your refrigerator, why not give your fridge a deep clean and sanitization? It helps reduce wear and tear on your refrigerator and lets you organize all your fresh foods, so nothing gets lost in the back.

1. Remove everything from both freezer and refrigerator. Take out all food containers and any removable elements, including drawers and shelves.

2. Throw away any food containers or items that are expired or old. Scrub containers that have stains or spills using soap and water and then disinfect them with wipes or cleaning sprays and a cloth or paper towels.

3. Wash refrigerator and freezer shelves and drawers in warm, soapy water (use the sink, or use the bathtub if the pieces are oversize) to remove spilled foods. Then use a disinfectant spray cleaner to ensure they are germ-free. Dry thoroughly.

4. Using a sponge or rag and a disinfectant cleaner, scrub the inside of the refrigerator and freezer. Don't forget the inside of the doors. Follow these tips to clean your water and ice dispenser.
