Toaster FAQs
How to clean a toaster?
Your GE Appliances toaster comes with a Use & Care manual that includes tips on cleaning your toaster. Before you clean your toaster make sure you unplug it from the outlet. For basic cleaning, first, check your crumb tray on the bottom and empty it if needed. Wipe the outside body of the toaster with a damp cloth. For more detailed information on cleaning your toaster, follow our guidelines.
How do I use a toaster?
When you first receive your GE Appliances toaster, plug it in and set the browning level to maximum (7). Then, push down the lever and allow the new elements to heat up. Try to do this in a well ventilated area since it may produce a slight odor as the elements cure. After curing, place your toaster on a level counter or table. Plug it in. Select your browning level (where 1 is the lightest toast and 7 is the darkest), place your food into the toaster slots, and then fully press down the lever. To stop the toasting cycle before it’s finished, press the Cancel button. For more information on toasting frozen foods and other foods, read our toaster use tips.
Where is the best place to put a toaster?
Most people keep their toaster on the countertop so it’s in easy reach for morning toasting needs. You can also place it on a shelf with other small appliances you may not use daily for storage and set it on your counter only when you’re using it. Or you could create a coffee/beverage center on a cart or counter and keep your toaster nearby for quick coffee and toast before dashing off to work. For other information about toaster locations, read our toaster oven installation guide.
What do I do if I am having issues with my toaster?
GE Appliances offers a Toaster Troubleshooting Guide in case you have issues with your toaster. Before you decide it’s broken, be sure the plug is fully inserted into the wall outlet if your toaster just isn’t toasting.
What is the difference between a toaster and toaster oven?
A toaster is a small appliance that is designed to toast breads, bagels, frozen waffles, etc. It’s a compact appliance that works quickly and efficiently to toast those foods.
A toaster oven is far more versatile. In fact, most toaster ovens are capable of not only toasting, but also baking, broiling, reheating, and some offer air frying capabilities. Toaster ovens can often replace your wall oven or range oven for cooking smaller meals or dishes without heating up your whole kitchen.
